Pigs in Blankets are one of, if not the ultimate festive food, right?
The phrase “best thing about Christmas dinner” is regularly mentioned in the same sentence as them, so as you can imagine, for vegans and vegetarians, this probably gets a bit annoying after a while and the FOMO kicks in.
Luckily though, they won’t have to hear “you don’t know what you’re missing” anymore as Morrisons is launching a plant-based alternative to this Christmas classic and calling them ‘No Pigs in Blankets’.
They’re made from a blend of jackfruit and chickpeas, wrapped in a streaky pastry blanket and they’re perfect either as canapé, or alongside your Christmas dinner.
Leanne Walters, Morrisons' party food expert, said “pigs in blankets are one of the UK’s favourite Christmas treats so we have created a meat-free version that can be enjoyed by vegans or anybody else”.
If you fancy getting your hands on some, then they’ll be available in all Morrisons stores from Wednesday 27th November and will set you back just £2.50 for a pack of 10.
They will form part of the supermarket’s ever growing plant-based line ‘V Taste’ launched in 2018 and you can complete your vegan festive feast with the rest of this year’s Christmas menu introductions, which include Korean Jackfruit Bao Buns and Katsu Croquettes.
