Curry lovers will be pleased to hear that the very best Indian restaurant in the UK is located in Greater Manchester.
As you may or may not be aware, the Asian Restaurant & Takeaway Awards 2019 (ARTA) recently happened, with the event recognising the best Asian cuisine in the country.
Taking place at the Park Plaza Hotel in Westminster, the awards shine a light on the UK’s best South Asian, Thai and Chinese food spots, breaking it down across regional and national categories.

Hot Chilli in Bolton claimed the number one spot, scooping top honours at ARTA 2019 by taking home the prestigious Champion of Champions Award.
The grand award is given to the absolute king of curry from across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Hot Chilli’s Shek Abul Bashar said:
Wow, what an honour. To be named the Champions of all Champions is something everybody in this industry dreams of – it is an overwhelming honour. Asian food continues to rise in popularity in the UK. Without our loyal customers in the North West this would not have been possible, and we pride ourselves highly on the fact that people enjoy our food just as much as we enjoy making it. To be named the best is something we will cherish forever.
For the rest of the awards the UK is broken down by region, with Bombay Cuisine in Prestwich crowned the ‘Best of North West’ in the Regional Takeaway of the Year section.
To whittle down the competition, ARTA used a survey of over 350,000 customers, with the final winners selected by an esteemed panel of ambassadors and judges.
The curry industry in the UK contributes £5 billion to the economy every year, and today there are more Indian restaurants in Greater London than in Delhi and Mumbai combined - surely they just call them ‘restaurants’ there, though?
So what do we think guys? Is Hot Chilli really the best curry house in the UK? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
