If you fancy getting out of the city for a pint this weekend, then this Lancashire pub would be a very good shout.
It’s just been named the best pub in Britain by the Good Pub Guide - and if anyone knows a thing or two about decent pubs then it’s these guys.
The Inn at Whitewell in Clitheroe took the number one spot in the annual publication's 2020 guide.
And the good news is it’s only an hour from Manchester, and is surrounded by some picturesque countryside.
According to judges it’s: "a grand old house with a smart pubby atmosphere, top quality food, an exceptional wine list, real ales and professional, friendly service; luxury bedrooms. Every aspect of this lovely pub is truly first class."
Sounds good to me. And it’s not the first accolade for The Inn, as it was named the best country dining pub back in 2017.
And if you’re feeling peckish, the Assheton Arms, which is also in Clitheroe, has been awarded the Dining Pub of the Year by the 2020 guide.
