Greggs will reopen as many as 800 stores across the country next month, according to reports.
Britain’s best-loved bakery has told The Sun that many branches will be operating again from June, with the chain having just completed a brief trial of shops in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne.
A spokesperson for Greggs commented: “We have planned and delivered robust shop trials using our new operational safety measures and they have progressed well, allowing us to now move to open an increased number of our shops from mid-June.”
Greggs announced it would shut all stores on 23 March following the outbreak of COVID-19.
Since then, the chain has been sharing recipes for its most popular products via Instagram using the hashtag #GreggsItYourself.
It is yet to be confirmed which locations will relaunch next month.
