We all know Manchester is the Greatest City on Earth, and now it seems the rest of the world is catching on to this as well.
According to new data, we are the second most visited tourist destination in the UK, just behind London.
Manchester overtook Edinburgh to take the second spot, as it’s been revealed we’ve had more inbound tourist footfall than the Scottish capital.
In the first half of 2019, Mancunians saw a massive surge in visitors to their hometown, with more people travelling here than anywhere in the UK besides London.
Figures from Expedia Group show our extraordinary rise in popularity, with the increase in numbers partly coming from more demand from Asia, as the number of Chinese tourists to the UK goes up by 185% year-on-year.
This coincides with a huge rise in visitors from other places like Brazil, Japan, America and Spain.
While unfortunately London is still number one, other Northern destinations are also on the rise, like Sheffield and Leeds - watch out Southerners, Manchester is coming for the top spot.
