A massive open-air, surface car park has opened in Manchester city centre with an aim of getting people back into town cheaply and safely.
The car park, which is located on First Street South (at the back of HOME and Jack Rosenthal St), will be able to hold hundreds of vehicles and costs just a fiver for the day.
The location is perfect for those who work in central Manchester as it is situated directly next to the canal that links the city together – but is also a straight walk through to St Peter’s Square and Piccadilly Gardens.
Not only that, but the Mancunian Way sits right next to it for a quick and easy exit out of town after a long day of work – meaning you won’t have to wade through central Manchester traffic to get home.
The company behind the opening of the new plot is even offering a fogging services on-site, with cleaners who will make sure the inside of your vehicle is cleaned, sanitised and free from pathogens either while you wait, or while you work.
At a time where heading back to work is tricky for most, the new car park has been implemented to ensure more workers can commute into town and park safely as lockdown begins to loosen and public transport becomes unbearable.
The car park, which will be operational 7 days a week from 6am until late, will also be offering commercial parking for businesses with company vehicles situated either permanently, or temporarily, in the centre of Manchester or surrounding areas.
You’ll be able to find the car park on First Street South, M15 4FN – located behind First Street favourites HOME, The Gas Works Brewbar and Vertigo and will only cost £5 per day to use it.
