BCA Landscape and Smiling Wolf have been chosen as the designers for the 2019 Manchester Arena memorial.

Manchester Advisory Group made the decision to pick “Glade of Light” following approval from the victims’ families.

The memorial - a tranquil, garden-like space - will contain illuminated trees and memory pools dedicated to the 22 people killed on 22 May 2017.

It is set to be unveiled on Fennel Street near Manchester Cathedral.

BCA Landscape have built a range of beautiful spaces in London and Liverpool, whilst Smiling Wolf have worked closely with a plethora of North-West magazines, marketing groups and properties.

Andy Thomson, Director of BCA Landscape, called it “a great honour and a great responsibility” to be contributing to the memorial.

He elaborated: ”We are determined to do our utmost to design a memorial which is a place of tribute, comfort, tranquillity and reflection and do the families of those who lost loved ones and everyone else affected by the attack proud.”

Sir Richard Leese, Manchester City Council Leader, commented: "This memorial will be a permanent symbol of remembrance, a tribute to those killed that night and a place to come together in solidarity and reflection.”
