Northern Rail cancellations are expected tomorrow (Christmas Eve) with the train operator blaming an 'unprecedented level of sickness' and drivers on leave.
Services are expected to be affected in Lancashire, Liverpool and Manchester, and a spokesman has advised anyone travelling on the franchise to check online beforehand.
It's been nothing but chaos for Northern over the past few weeks, with delays and cancellations after the new winter timetable was launched.
The spokesman said: "We are sorry for any disruption customers may face."
"Alongside the annual leave entitlements at this time of the year, we currently have unprecedented levels of sickness."
"That means we expect there to be some pre-planned cancellations on certain lines."
The service between Liverpool and Wigan has been stopped completely and replaced with a bus service that will operate every hour.
A reduced service will be in place between Manchester Piccadilly and Hadfield and also between Lancaster and Morecambe.
If you are travelling home tomorrow, make sure you check online regularly so you are as up to date as possible – and don't forget, passengers delayed by 15 minutes or more can apply for compensation.
