PG Tips and Yorkshire Tea go viral after uniting in ‘SolidariTea’ on Twitter

Two of the UK’s leading tea brands have come together on Twitter to stand in “solidariTea” with the Black Lives Matter movement.

The two manufacturers are used to being in direct competition with one another, but Yorkshire Tea and PG Tips have uncharacteristically united to support the worthy cause and people are loving it.

After a known far-right YouTuber/Influencer took to Twitter to express how happy she was that Yorkshire Tea was yet to publicly support, or make a formal statement regarding the #BlackLivesMatter movement, the tea brand stepped in to respond.

She tweeted: “I’m dead chuffed that Yorkshire Tea hasn’t supported BLM.”

To which Yorkshire Tea replied: “Please don’t buy our tea again,”

“We’re taking some time to educate ourselves and plan proper action before we post. We stand against racism. #BlackLivesMatter.”

After Yorkshire Tea’s response went on to generate much public praise and become a trending topic on the platform, PG Tips decided to join and equally express support for the Black Lives Matter movement by replying to another Twitter user with prejudiced views under the same tweet thread.

They also coined the well-received hashtag #solidariTea

The tweet in which PG Tips replied to has now been deleted by the user.

Yorkshire Tea and PG Tips are the latest of numerous high-profile brands to use their influential social media platforms to share statements of solidarity in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.
