A driver who failed to stop for traffic officers on Tuesday evening led police on a 95mph chase through the streets of Bolton.
The luxury Mercedes S500 was flagged down on St Helens Road but took off at high speeds – leading police into an estate where the driver abandoned the vehicle entirely and opted to flee on foot.
Police managed to track down the suspect with the help of dogs.
The high-speed pursuit took place shortly after officers had arrested the driver of a stolen Range Rover in the area.
GMP Traffic account posted an image of the seized Mercedes on Tuesday evening.
They stated: “#XT14 had just left the range rover when this Mercedes S500 failed to stop on St Helen’s Road Bolton. Pursued at speeds over 95mph the vehicle turned into the estate and was abandoned. The driver was detained after an extensive foot chase with the help of @GMPdogs car seized!”
Police also confirmed that the person behind the wheel of the Mercedes S500 has since been charged with dangerous driving, failing to stop for the police, driving with no insurance and no licence.
He has been bailed and will appear at Wigan Magistrates Court.
