Turns out Blackpool looks a lot different today after yesterday’s heatwave

Charlotte McLaughlin

Well, that certainly didn’t last long.

As the sun has been continuing to shine during our lockdown days, it’s no secret that Blackpool has been looking better than ever before.

It’s quite literally been glowing.

The turquoise-toned water was glistening, the beach was clean and practically empty and the blue skies made it all the better. We even shared an article featuring some stunning aerial pictures of the waterfront taken by a local photographer and people just couldn’t believe their eyes at how different the seaside town looked than what we’ve become accustomed to.

Unfortunately though, all good things generally come to an end, don’t they?

The rose tint has lifted and reality has come crashing down as it was quite a different story yesterday. Crowds from across the North West flocked to the sea front on the hottest day of the year so far in the UK, leaving mounds of mess in their wake and rendering necessary social distancing difficult to adhere to.

People have been taking to social media in the aftermath to share the shocking scenes and express dismay.

Remember last week when we was all sharing videos of how good Blackpool beach/sea looked since lockdown. Well look at it…

Thought we would take a stroll along the beach today, daily exercise, is the lockdown over or are people just making…

We can only say that we are disappointed.

Remember that whilst empty beaches and blue skies are certainly tempting, it is still ever-important to consider circumstances before making any trips to coastal locations, local beauty spots and more.

Do ensure that necessary social distancing practices are adhered to at all times, contact with other people is limited as much as possible and that places are left clean, tidy and as you found them to allow everyone the chance to best appreciate the surroundings on offer.
