If you’ve ever wanted to live the wholesome carefree life of Postman Pat then now is your chance - the Royal Mail is currently looking for posties in Manchester.
You don’t need a black and white cat to be considered for the role, but you will need a full UK manual driving licence with no more than six penalty points, although a clean licence is preferred.
And just like Pat, the ideal candidate will be upbeat and self-motivated, with both a love of the outdoors and a good level of fitness.
The role will be based out of their Middleton delivery office - although there are also a few other roles going with slightly different hours, in areas including Prestwich and Salford - and the postal company are looking for a part-time postman or postwoman to start in May.
If successful you’ll work 27.5 hours a week, between 8.30am and 2.40pm, over five days between Monday and Saturday.
The pay is pretty good too, with anyone aged 18 and over receiving an hourly rate of £10.25, and anyone aged 17 getting £7.97 per hour. You’ll also get a pay rise at six and 12 months into the job as long as your performance is ‘satisfactory’.
The job itself will involve sorting mail for your route, checking your vehicle, then joining a colleague for your round where you’ll spend between four and six hours delivering the mail, come rain or shine.
If you’re interested, the Royal Mail are holding interviews on April the 18th, and successful applicants will start on May 21st.
You can find out more about the different roles and apply here. Good luck!
