Chocolate Orange Cake with Fanta sounds like something you might have asked for on your birthday as a sweet-toothed child.
Back then, you’d have been laughed at. But it turns out this kind of crazy, glowing concoction does actually exist after all.
A member of the Crockpot/Slow Cooker Recipes & Tips group on Facebook posted a recipe for Chocolate Orange Cake with Fanta earlier this week – and it’s no surprise to see it being shared far and wide.
Recipe owner Susan Talbot shared the method in her FB post: “Mix the Betty Crocker Cake Mix with Two Small Cans of Fanta (150ml each). 1 tsp orange extract.
“Put a big cake case in the slow cooker. I use a cake tin and a cake liner to keep shape.
“Pour the mix into the cake case.
“Turn the slow cooker onto high for 1 hour 1/2 – 2 hrs 15mins cooking time varys [sic] on your slow cooker so i always check after 1 1/2 hrs.
“Make sure you put a tea towel in between the lid and the slow cooker.
“When cooked, allow the cake to cool down, remove it from the slow cooker and then decorate!
“I used the cadburys fudge icing and a Terry’s Chocolate Orange minis with nestle zingy orange matchmakers.”
Ideal for the weekend don’t you think?
