A coat rail in Altrincham has got a whole community talking and taking action.
It's the latest initiative from Facebook page Altrincham Matters and they've called it The Rail of Coats Appeal.
They have set up three coat rails across the up and coming town in Trafford and are urging people to either leave a coat there, or take one – and during this time of year we are fully behind the idea.
The three locations in Altrincham are Stamford New Road, The Downs and Oxford Road and the initiative officially kicks off today (Monday 9 December).
The original post, on Altrincham HQ, went viral locally, racking up hundreds of likes, comments and shares with an abundance of messages of support.
With the weather taking a turn for the worst in recent weeks and the nights getting darker, the idea is one we hope catches on as there will be thousands of people sleeping rough this winter.
A bit of kindness can go a long way, and everyone has at least one coat lying around that they don't wear anymore – so if you're around the Alty area this week, do your good deed for the year and give it to someone less fortunate.
The specific Altrincham locations are Laundry b. Altrincham, Off The Wheaten Track and Le Salon.
