Vue has announced a plan to reopen cinemas once the UK government declares it is safe to do so.
The cinema chain, which operates 91 sites across the country, is making changes to its ticket booking system so that individuals or families can sit together whilst remaining distanced from other audience members.
Theatres will also be subjected to enhanced cleaning, with employee protection protocols introduced to ensure staff safety.
A spokesperson for Vue commented: “We have been liaising closely with authorities across Europe to design operating procedures that can provide the degree of social distancing required and allow an experience for our customers and staff that is as safe as possible.”
UK cinemas have been feeling the pinch due to venue closures and had previously asked the government to consider allowing people back into theatres by the end of June.
The current lockdown exit roadmap has put forward July 4 as a prospective date for hospitality and entertainment locations to reopen – provided COVID-19 cases continue to fall.
