Coronation Street legend Andrew Whyment ‘set to appear on I’m A Celebrity’

I’m A Celebrity is set to return to our screens next month, but news of this year’s contestants has already started to leak.

And one person who is reportedly set to enter the jungle is Corrie legend Andrew Whyment, aka Kirk Sutherland.

The 38-year-old actor has been on the soap since 2000, and would be the 11th Coronation Street star to appear Down Under.

In previous years Antony Cotton (Sean Tully), Craig Charles (Lloyd Mullaney), Helen Flanagan (Rosie Webster), Nigel Havers (Lewis Archer) and Sair Khan (Alya Nazir) have all swapped the Cobbles for the jungle of Australia.

A source told The Sun:

Producers are really pleased with the line-up so far, with just a couple of faces to unveil. There’s a chance they’ll add a couple more but in previous years they’ve stuck at ten with one or two to follow. They were chuffed to get Andrew as viewers have watched him on Coronation Street for the best part of two decades, yet know nothing about him away from Kirk.

Seven other celebs have been revealed for this year’s series, including Nadine Coyle, Ian Wright, Jacqueline Jossa, Myles Stephenson, Kate Garraway, Roman Kemp and James Haskell.

Ant & Dec will be returning to host the new series, which starts on ITV in three weeks.
