Noel Gallagher has gone in on Eminem in a recent interview, calling the rapper ‘boring’.
Fresh off his beef with Scottish singer Lewis Capaldi, the Oasis star has set his sights on a new target for his hatred, although his dispute with Eminem actually goes back 14 years.
Back in 2005 Noel called Eminem an ‘idiot’ in the Guardian, going on a rant about how much he hated rap and saying: “I fucking despise hip-hop. Loathe it. Eminem is a fucking idiot and I find 50 Cent the most distasteful character I have ever crossed in my life.”
Ironically, the man who wrote Cigarettes & Alcohol has now called Eminem boring for rapping about drugs and alcohol, and his time in rehab.
Noel told Ireland’s Sunday Independent newspaper:
Er, [Eminem] is one of those guys that goes into rehab and then they sing about it for the next 20 years. You did a bit of fucking coke. You had a drink. Haven’t we all. I have never felt the need to be one of those fucking people. It’s boring… writing songs about drugs is as boring as writing songs about coming out the other side of drugs.
Noel, who penned lyrics such as ‘you might as well do the white line’ and ‘when you're chained to the mirror and the razor blade’, went on to admit he wrote some ‘fucking amazing’ songs while high on cocaine, including Supersonic (‘I'm feeling supersonic, give me gin and tonic’).
Not sure Noel lives in a universe where irony exists to be honest...
