In a new location with a jam-packed line up, tonight’s the night to get yourselves down to Deansgate for the 2019 Manchester Christmas Lights switch-on!
With work currently being carried out on the town hall, which you’re probably well aware of, this is the first time in over 20 years that the festivities are moving from Albert Square to a new location on Deansgate, near Manchester Cathedral.
Pressing the on switch this year is chart-topping singer Becky Hill, who will also be performing on a stage that is being built as we speak.
The rest of the performances will come from singer HRVY, X Factor girl group Four of Diamonds and the cast of some of the city’s shows and pantos this year including Snow White and the Seven Dwarves and SIX… The Grinch is also supposed to be there as well, but fingers crossed he doesn’t steal all the Christmas cheer.
The celebrations will finish as always with a huge firework display.
It’s a free, family-friendly event for all to attend and it’s starting at 7:30pm - 8:30pm, so make sure you get down there early if you want a good spot as space could be restricted. If you’ve been before, you’ll know how it works. If you haven’t, just take our word for it.
There’ll also be security checks on entry and it’s advised that you don’t bring bags to make the process quicker, so let’s all help each other out so we can all have a decent night - we’re good at that us Mancs.
To everyone making the trip down there tonight, stay safe and enjoy r kid!
