Going out for drinks after work is great, don’t get me wrong, but these days people want something which offers a bit more than just a few pints.
And that’s where Point Blank MCR comes in, a state of the art simulation shooting range in the heart of Manchester.
The concept was born out of co-founders Mark Ruston and Phil Hale’s love of skill set shooting, the pair would often visit live fire ranges in Eastern Europe and the US and decided to bring the next best thing back to the UK - a system which allows the fun of a live shooting range without real ammunition.
It’s the first such venture in the UK, offering visitors a unique experience with exceptional shooting realism via their state of the art technology.
As you’d expect from a venue of this calibre, they also provide a large range of cocktails, beers, wines and soft drinks while you shoot your way through various targets, as well as a selection of Americana style tapas and lunchtime sandwiches - that’s right, you can even come down and have a go on your lunch break.
Point Blank offers over 200 shooting scenarios, and you can get started with their introductory 'Steel Challenge' before moving on to some of the more hardcore advanced courses.
And trust me, it’s proper addictive. You won’t want to put the gun down until you’ve beaten your mate’s high score, as you blast your way through numerous targets, courses and scenarios.
Their shooting technicians will talk you through it all, giving you useful tips (don’t hold your gun sideways) and making sure you have everything you need. And for the more gifted shooters out there (definitely not me then) there’s going to be a Point Blank shooting league coming soon with some top quality prizes for the cream of the crop.
The ranges are located at 78 Deansgate (sandwiched between The Botanist and Moon Under Water). You can find more info, prices and book a spot via their website here.
