What's On
You can ride a spooky steam train through Greater Manchester this Halloween
'Halloween Ghost Trains' return to the East Lancashire Railway this October.
A whole host of “terrifying tricks and terrific treats” are waiting for the whole family on the East Lancashire Railway this October.
Or at least those brave enough to climb aboard one of the eerie Halloween Ghost Trains.
Looking for “loads of spooktacular fun”? Can you lend a helping hand to banish ghosts, ghouls, and monsters? And do you have the guts to ride on a haunted steam engine through the heart of Greater Manchester with the heritage railway’s scream team this Halloween?
Then you can join ELR’s horrible heroes, Count Brian the vampire, Veronica the witch, and Zombie Bob for the train ride of a lifetime.
They will help all rail passengers avoid terrible curses and scary surprises along the way.
That’s not all either.
There’s also going to be some Ghoulish Ghosts who will be singing some of the most spine-chilling songs to set the spooky scene, as well as creating magic spells.
They may also trick you into joining in scares with them too, if you don’t keep an eye out.
East Lancashire Railway has also said that fancy dress “definitely encouraged” onboard the Halloween Ghost Trains – “the scarier the better” – and there will also be lots of terrifying treats to tuck into at the Bury-based station’s buffet too.
The Halloween Ghost Trains are running this year on 28, 29 and 30 October, with ticket prices starting at £12.90 for children and £14.30 for adults.
Ahead of the return of the Halloween Ghost Trains, ELR has assured that “safety measures are firmly in place” to allow all visitors a “grand day out with peace of mind”.
East Lancashire Railway has proudly been awarded a ‘We’re Good to Go’ industry standard and consumer mark by VisitBritain, with qualifying businesses must having demonstrated that they are adhering to the respective government and public health guidance, have carried out a COVID-19 risk assessment, and have all required processes in place.
