A Manchester dessert and burger bar has been fined after being caught dumping rubbish on the street in Rusholme.
Wilmslow Road fast food restaurant Legends Desserts and Burger Bar have been ordered to pay £1,635 for dumping commercial waste in Rusholme.
On the morning of 2 June 2021, Biffa operatives found twenty bags of waste on Park Crescent, Rusholme.
The waste was searched, and 12 of the bags contained evidence relating to ‘Legends Desserts and Burger Bar’ at 203 Wilmslow Road, Rusholme. The evidence found included till receipts, branded wrapping and branded cups from the establishment.
A representative of the company admitted that his staff had put rubbish next to their commercial bins but claimed that this was only one bag.

The company also claimed that their waste contractor had told them to put their waste on the ground if the commercial bins were full but did not provide any evidence of this arrangement when asked.
A few months later, further waste dumped by Legends Dessert and Burger Bar was found at same location. The company were contacted and further investigations were undertaken before legal proceedings were initiated.

The eatery, owned by Legends (Manchester) Limited, has been charged and prosecuted over two fly-tipping offences at Manchester Magistrates Court on Thursday 10 March.
The business was prosecuted under Section 34 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and the Refuse Disposal (Amenity) Act 1978 after their commercial waste was found dumped on Park Crescent, Rusholme.
A representative from the company pleaded guilty to the offences and agreed to pay the fines.

Councillor Rabnawaz Akbar, Executive Member for Neighbourhoods, said:
“As Councillor for Rusholme it saddens me that this local business tried to dirty the neighbourhood by dumping their commercial waste in the community not once, but twice.
“Fly tipping is criminal behaviour and damages our communities. I want people to know that we will not tolerate fly tipping in Rusholme or anywhere in the city. This is a significant and costly fine for this company- which I hope deters them and others from fly tipping in the future.”

A new ‘disco den’ nightclub is opening in the Northern Quarter
Daisy Jackson
A brand-new nightclub is set to open in Manchester city centre next month, as our city’s late-night scene ramps up a gear.
Following on from the announcement of the return of Sankeys, this new ‘disco den’ will be an intimate loft space in the Northern Quarter.
As with Sankeys, the location of this new venue is being kept strictly under wraps for now, but they have teased some details to get us started.
It will be a New York-style loft club space, which wants to bring ‘the essence of Studio 54’ to Manchester.
The venue will be taking over the top floor of one of the Northern Quarter’s ‘most famous’ bars, and will have a maximum capacity of 150 people – pretty intimate for a nightlife venue.
The first two nights have been announced too – up first will be ‘Lollipop’, a new night of self-expression, freedom, disco, and drag dancers.
On Saturday 28 February, Mancs will be able to dance to the best house and disco music, from Jon Fitz, DJ Dave Cooper, Electric Emma Eden Binks, and Libby Nolan, with supporting performances from Gisele.
Then on Saturday 14 March, ‘Discolicious’ will take over – an inclusive club night founded by Jemma Bolt and Denise Van Outen.
The event is back from a summer-long residency at Ibiza’s UNVRS superclub.
Expect sequins, feathers, platforms and pure disco ball energy, with a line-up that includes Jemma Bolt, Laura Pradelska, Pips Taylor, Jules Pinkney and Manchester’s own Electric Emma.
Tickets for both events are available from Skiddle, with a password reveal three days before the event.
Discolicious tickets are on sale now HERE, and Lollipop tickets are available HERE.

Police are appealing to the public for information after a shooting in Manchester city centre over the weekend.
Officers from Greater Manchester Police (GMP) were called to reports of a disturbance on Richmond Street at around 5am this past Saturday morning (24 January 2026), and upon arriving at the address, discovered that an adult male had an injury to his leg which was consistent with a gunshot wound.
The man, who has not been named, was been taken to hospital with injuries, but they have been described as ‘non-life threatening’ and ‘non-life changing’.
Following the incident, a police investigation was launched straight away.
Six men, all aged between 23 and 26-years-old, have all been arrested on suspicion of affray and firearms offences, and remain in police custody for questioning at this time while investigations are ongoing.
Superintendent Stephen Wiggins, from GMP’s City of Manchester Division, said he understands this will be a ‘concerning incident’ for the whole of Greater Manchester.
“Once the call came in, our officers acted quickly, making to the scene to establish what had unfolded at the address on Richmond Street, detaining six individuals who we believe had been involved, and we managed to recover a firearm at the address.
“I would like to reassure the community that we believe this is a targeted incident, and there is no wider threat to the general public.”
GMP is now appealing to the public for witnesses, or anyone with information, CCTV, or dashcam footage that could assist the investigation, and is urging them to contact police on 0161 856 4259 or 101, quoting log 600 of 24/01/2026.
You can also report information via LiveChat on the GMP website, or through Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
