Manchester’s huge new arena the Co-op Live has assured fans that it will definitely, actually, for sure open this week.
The staggering new music venue beside the Etihad Stadium has been hit by a couple of high-profile delays in the last fortnight.
Although a test event with Rick Astley went ahead on 21 April, giving a small audience a glimpse inside the state-of-the-art arena, the brakes were slammed on soon afterwards.
Co-op Live pushed its opening date back while it ironed out some kinks, namely ‘power supply issues’, and underwent rigorous testing to ‘run all shows safely’.
That meant Peter Kay was rescheduled to 29 and 30 April… but then got postponed again, along with The Black Keys, who were meant to perform last weekend.

All the delays have left fans panicking that their shows will also be delayed, with some huge shows like Olivia Rodrigo, Take That, and Liam Gallagher lined up in the coming weeks and months.
But Co-op Live has now issued a statement reassuring gig-goers that they are full steam ahead and ready to open as planned this week.

The first act to perform here officially will now be A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie on 1 May (not quite as local a name as they were gunning for, but we move).
He’ll be followed by Olivia Rodrigo and her Guts Tour, who will perform two sold-out gigs on 3 and 4 May.

Then Keane will play the Co-op Live on 5 May to mark 20 years since the release of Hopes and Fears.

Co-op Live posted: “Let’s do this! Less than 48 hours until we kick off our full opening season.
“Our scheduled shows with @aboogievsartist, @oliviarodrigo and @keaneofficial are going ahead.
“Ticket holders can expect an email with everything they need to know about this week’s events to land in your inboxes tomorrow!”
Fans have breathed a sigh of relief at the news, with one person writing: “YAY THANK GOD OMG THIS IS AMAZING WAS LITERALLY HAVJNG A MENTAL BREAKDOWN BOUT OLIVIA BEING CANCELLED.”
Another commented: “THANK GOD!!! 4th mayyyy.”

Someone else posted: “IM SO HAPPY AHHHHHH I’VE BEEN NERVOUS ALL WEEK BUT NOW I KNOW ITS GONNA BE FINE AHHH.”

Stevie Wonder to play landmark Manchester gig as part of UK tour this year

Living legend Stevie Wonder is heading on a UK tour and stopping off in Manchester for the first time in 15 years.
Manchester has been blessed by the music gods yet again, and this time, it comes in the form of funk pioneer Stevie Wonder.
The 74-year-old musician will be bringing his extraordinary grand piano, exceptional live band, and, of course, his groovy tunes like ‘Superstition’, ‘Isn’t She Lovely’, and ‘I Just Called To Say I Love You’ to our city later this year.
Wonder last visited Manchester in 2010, gracing the AO Arena with his presence, but now he’s visiting Manchester’s newest live music entertainment venue, Co-op Live.

The American-Ghanaian icon has an undisputed legacy.
He became the youngest solo artist ever to top the Billboard Hot 100 with his 1963 single ‘Fingertips’ at age 13, and has also won the prestigious Album of the Year category at the Grammys three times, as well as taking home 25 awards in total throughout his career.
His 1976 project Songs in the Key of Life was also featured in Apple Music’s 100 Best Albums at number six by esteemed critics and the public alike – a claim that not many have to their name.
With this 2025 UK tour titled ‘Love, Light & Song’, the Michigan native will be heading to two arenas, Manchester and Birmingham, and taking on various festival performances along the way – including Lytham Festival.
The crowds will be roaring when Stevie Wonder takes to the stage, and rightly so, as this artist has racked up almost 300 weeks in the UK Top 40, with an impressive 39 singles featuring on our charts throughout his career.
He’s an undeniable force, and this show in Manchester is set to be monumental, so ‘Don’t You Worry ’bout a Thing’, as you’ll be in for a night of jazz, funk, soul, and everything in between.

Leaked ‘Knebworth 2026’ teaser has Oasis fans losing their minds

The Oasis reunion still feels beyond surreal but Britpop fans are preparing to lose their minds all over again as the Live ’25 comeback tour looks like it could be followed by Knebworth 2026.
We really don’t want to get ahead of ourselves only to be disappointed but we can’t help it, we’re absolutely getting carried away at the mere thought of it.
You can’t trust everything on social media, we all know that, but after a seemingly legit but premature post from the official Knebworth House X account appeared online, you’ll forgive us for thinking this just might be real.
Sharing nothing more than the iconic picture of the Knebworth crowd from back in 1996 (the same one that features on the Time Flies… 1994–2009 singles compilation) with the caption, “This is history” and the date August 2026, it looks like the Hertfordshire estate could be set to host Oasis for a second time.

As shared by Clash Magazine, the post was deleted almost immediately. The question is was it a technical error, a mistake on the admin’s part or just a very clever way of teasing the masses?
Either, it’s succeeded in sending Oasis fans into a frenzy – ourselves very much included.
There has obviously been no update from the band themselves nor the Gallagher brothers themselves; we wouldn’t put it past Liam to comment on it as a way of toying with his followers but, sadly, there’s been nothing yet.
Burnage’s finest are set to play over 40 dates on the world tour and there was some speculation that their reunion could spill over into Glastonbury, but with the lineup now announced we can confirm that was far too much wishful thinking for one comeback cycle.
That being, Knebworth 2.0 was very much filed under our pie-in-the-sky daydreams up until we saw that deleted post but now we have, we can’t think about anything else over than another quarter of a million Oasis fans, if not more, descending upon the parish and its Tudor gardens for another biblical festival.

Put it this way, if it does indeed happen and Oasis return to Knebworth is confirmed for August 2026 or any date for that matter, it’s single-handedly the only piece of music news that could possibly outweigh the gravity of their reunion tour this summer.
Plus, if it does, there’ll be one very big closing act to round off that upcoming documentary which will capture these highly-anticipated shows on film.
