In pictures: Courteeners perform ‘unreal’ record-breaking gig up north

Courteeners performed a huge gig on one of the north’s biggest stages over the weekend, in scenes Liam Fray himself described as ‘unreal’.

The Manchester-formed indie heroes delivered a blistering concert as part of the Lytham Festival 2024 line-up.

And it was a record-breaker, becoming the largest show to ever take place at the northern gig series, with a sold-out crowd of 25,000.

Courteeners‘ set at Lytham Festival is their only North of England festival appearance of the year, and the huge audience lapped it up.

Bucket hats, flares (no matter how hard venues try to ban them), crowd-surfing and more were all in store for the Friday night of the event.

Also performing on the stage over the five-day run of events were Hozier, Shania Twain, Madness, and James with Johnny Marr.

Liam Fray, Michael Campbell and Daniel Moores gave the crowd a hit-packed set which included Cavorting, Notion, Take Over The Word, Pink Cactus Café, The 17th, Cloud, Modern Love, What Took You So Long and the iconic anthem Not Nineteen Forever.

They were supported by rising star Nieve Ella and fellow indie icons The Kooks.

After the gig, Liam simply posted: “The sun sets on a promise kept. Unreal you lot x.”
