'It made her bloody week!'

Any of us who have worked in hospitality know how helpful tips can be – but one waitress received an extra-special thank you from a customer this weekend.

Katie Wood, who works at Northern Soul, was given a ticket to go and see The 1975 from one of her tables.

Which is a little more impressive than the standard 10% on your bill…

Northern Soul, a cafe which specialises in grilled cheese sandwiches and huge breakfasts, shared a photo of a delighted Katie holding her ticket to The 1975 gig at the AO Arena.

They said that she is a ‘massive fan’ so it ‘meant a lot’.

The band, originally from Wilmslow, played two huge homecoming gigs at the arena over the weekend.

Northern Soul also wrote that they are trying to celebrate small wins across the business, and that ‘this is one for sure’.

The cafe wrote: “When you deliver top notch service & food , your guests deliver a top notch #TIP

“Katie’s ‘superstar table’ slid her a @the1975 ticket to say thank you & in turn made her bloody week!! She’s a massive #1975fan so it meant a lot.

“Our team work so hard and at the minute we are trying so hard to celebrate small wins when they come & this is one for sure.

“Good things happy when you smile , be kind and make people happy.

“Well done Katie and the whole team.”

They also offered to chuck in some free sandwiches for the band.

Owner Dan Place told the MEN: “They just turned to her and said: ‘Look we were going to sell this ticket but you’ve been so good to us and we’ve enjoyed our experience so much we’d like you to have it.’”

He added: “A couple of quid tip is always appreciated but when you get something special like that, a ticket worth £80 or £90, for Katie that’s a lot of money. She’s going to the gig tonight and will have a great time.”
