A fresh new pizzeria in Failsworth is introducing the neighbourhood to the fantastic flavours of Detroit-style cooking for the very first time.

Corner Slice popped up on Lord Lane following lockdown – showcasing a type of Italian-American cooking never seen before in this part of Greater Manchester.

Unlike other pizzerias, this takeaway uses a tougher, spongier type of dough as the base, before baking carefully to leave each slice with a crispy, cheesy crust.

It’s just like how they do it in Motor City.

Corner Slice’s 10 x 8 pizzas come in a variety of flavourful fusions, from simple Red Top and White Top to the classic Detroit Pepperoni.

Also on the menu is the Iron Born (Italian sausage, fennel salami, chilli flakes); the Portocini (portobello mushrooms and garlic); the Evelyn (courgette, corn, ricotta, chilli flakes); the Red Wing (pepperoni, nduja, chilli pesto, hot honey); the Leonardo (squash puree, kale, hazelnut and vegan mozzarella).

Waffle fries, wedge salad and fried chicken are also up for grabs on the sides menu, along with cinnamon sugar donuts accompanied by whipped cream.

The full menu is available online, and you can salivate over the Corner Slice Instagram here.

The takeaway is located at 141 Lord Lane, Failsworth.
