Amir Khan has offered his £5 million building in Bolton to help those affected by coronavirus.

The Bolton-born professional boxer has taken to social media this afternoon to offer his multi-million pound facility over to the NHS amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

He has offered the venue to help those affected by the crisis due to the shortage of hospital beds.

The £5 million venue, which is set to become a wedding hall and retail outlet in August of this year, is a 60,000 sq ft development with four stories.

In his statement, Amir Khan said: "I am aware of how difficult it is for the public to get a hospital bed in this tragic time".

"I am prepared to give my 60,000 square foot 4 story building... to the [NHS] to help people affected by the coronavirus."

Over the past few hours, the social posts have amassed thousands of interactions, comments and shares across platforms, with fans and members of the public highly commending him for his offer.

According to recent figures from Public Health England, three people in Bolton have died after testing positive for coronavirus (COVID-19).

There has been a total of 19 confirmed cases across the borough of Greater Manchester.
