Lancashire has agreed to enter Tier 3 – the highest level of restrictions.
The region will move into the ‘very high’ risk category on the government’s local COVID alert scale, after previously being classified as Tier 2.
Lancashire will become the second part of the country to enter Tier 3 after Liverpool City Region.
An official announcement is expected at 11am.
There is still currently no movement on Greater Manchester.
Under Tier 3, households are banned from mixing both indoors and in private gardens.
Bars and pubs must also close unless they can operate as restaurants only.
