Derby police officer uses megaphone to order people to stay in their homes

A video has surfaced online of a police officer in Derbyshire using an unorthodox but effective method to try and keep people in their homes during the UK coronavirus lockdown.

The police officer, sat in his squad car with its flashing lights, was recorded by a resident using a megaphone to order people to stay in their homes.

He says: "This is a police message. You must stay indoors. This is a police message. Please stay indoors.

In littleover tonight crazyy!Edit - my neighbour Gurshan Bolla got a bee in his bonnet as he took the video? so everyone hook him up with the notifications too ✌️✌️

"Remember, you can only go out to go to work and come home, to go to the shop, to collect medication and for one exercise a day.

“This is serious. We need to beat corona and we can only do that if we work together. This is a police message. Please stay indoors."

Thousands of people have praised the officer for his forward thinking approach, while others claimed it was causing disturbance.

Either way, it's getting people talking about the seriousness of taking the UK lockdown seriously, and we commend this officer for that.
