Police have arrested a driver they caught drinking beer behind the wheel on the motorway – with 14 additional bottles found inside the vehicle.
North West Motorway Police stopped the culprit yesterday after receiving reports of a car driving dangerously.
The driver was found to have a bottle of beer open on his lap – with 14 other beers stashed in the footwell.
Police have tweeted to confirm the driver failed a roadside breath test and has been arrested.
The tweet, posted at 6:31 AM on Tuesday morning (July 7), reads: “Information passed by @CMPG of a vehicle driving dangerously M6 NB entering the NWMPG area.
“Vehicle stopped by #MS28. Driver was literally drinking whilst driving. 14 bottles of beer in the footwell one open on the driver’s lap. Driver arrested for positive breath test.”
