Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service have been tackling a large blaze which broke out at Blackpool Central Pier in the early hours of this morning.
Around 10 fire engines were called to the scene and 50 fire fighters have been on hand tackling the blaze, which was reported at 3am.
Central Pier is one of three piers at the popular seaside resort of Blackpool.
Mark Winder, Incident Commander from Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service, said: “The fire involved a workshop and a ride that are approximately halfway along the Central Pier.”
“Fortunately early firefighter action has extinguished the fire to the extent there is no visible flame present.”
He said they had launched an investigation into the cause of the blaze.
The fire is now confirmed to be under control, but some road closures in the surrounding areas will be in place and delays should be expected this morning.
