Former One Direction star Liam Payne has died aged 31

Liam Payne, formerly a member of hit boyband One Direction, has tragically died.

The 31-year-old star reportedly died after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires in Argentina.

Local media there is reporting that he was found dead after the fall with a large emergency service presence around the hotel.

Liam Payne had been on holiday with his girlfriend Kate Cassidy, and had appeared in her TikTok videos as recently as two days ago.

His last post on his own social media was a photo of himself with his former bandmates.

The star was known for being one of the five members of One Direction, one of the world’s most successful boybands.

He has a son, Bear, who he shares with ex Cheryl Cole.

Early tributes are beginning to be shared from fellow music stars.

MTV has shared: “We’re deeply saddened to learn of Liam Payne’s tragic passing today. During this difficult time, our hearts remain with his family, loved ones, and fans.”

Fellow X Factor alumni Jedward shared: “RIP Liam Payne. Condolences to friends and family. Sending strength to Cheryl and his son Bear and all the One direction Family.”

The BRIT Awards wrote: “We’re incredibly sad to learn of the tragic passing of Liam Payne. Our thoughts and prayers are with his friends and family at this time.”
