Good news for grime fans. Legendary wordsmith JME is playing Parklife 2020.
Considered a visionary founding father of the gritty UK sub-genre, JME is set to push the boundaries during his appearance at Heaton Park.
On the Saturday 13 June, he'll be bringing Grime MC FM to the stage - which will see the rapper joined by a "host of grime dons" to provide an "unadulterated live experience of a non-mainstream culture that JME was born to champion."
Grime MC FM is a show focused on grime's grassroots of pirate radio and "clashing", reminding audiences where this music (which has since been popularised and modernised by the likes of Stormzy) originated.
Held in high regard for his sharp wit, raspy flow and ability to make a beat using almost any instrument, JME changed the game by launching record label Boy Better Know with brother Skepta back in 2005, and has remained an innovative presence on the scene ever since.
He bucked another trend last year with the release of Grime MC - an album made available to purchase as a CD or vinyl only.
It still made the UK Top 40 and was hailed as a triumph by critics.
JME joins Tyler, the Creator at Parklife for 2020, with Liam Gallagher playing a one-off show on the Friday evening.
The full lineup for Manchester's flagship festival is announced next week.
Tickets are currently available for Manchester residents at a discounted rate.
