A teenager has tragically died after a collision on the M62, in which a car crossed over to the other side of the motorway and overturned.
The accident occurred at around 10.30pm last night near junction 21 in Milnrow.
Emergency services rushed to the scene but tragically found that a 19-year-old passenger in the vehicle had died.
The driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries and the remaining passenger in the car suffered none.
The 19-year-old driver of the grey Vauxhall Astra has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains in custody for questioning.
The car had been travelling westbound on the M62 when the driver lost control and collided with the central barriers, then the car cross over to the eastbound carriageway and overturned.
Greater Manchester Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.
If anyone has dashcam, mobile phone footage or other footage from the area, they are also asked to contact the police.
