Nicki Minaj has issued a statement on social media after her Co-op Live gig was cancelled HOURS after fans had entered the arena.
She had been arrested in Amsterdam on Saturday afternoon and was ‘sitting in a jail cell for 5-6 hours’, but it had initially looked like she would still make her gig here in Manchester.
Alas, several hours after she was due to take to the stage, fans inside the venue were told it had been postponed.
And since breaking her silence on the drama at the new Co-op Live arena, fans flocked to the hotel she’s staying in to show their support.
Videos show hundreds of Barbz (the name given to her fans) dressed in pink cheering for her outside the Stock Exchange last night.

Nicki had tweeted that she’d come out to the balcony or downstairs to see everyone.
She later said: “I hear yall. How did yall get here so fast?!? Finally a smile. Thank you. 2 mins. But not so loud. It’s almost 2 in the morning ppl tryna sleep.”

In her statement about the cancelled gig, Nicki said that she was ‘so grateful’ to the Co-op Live arena, which ‘was willing to go past 11pm’ to accommodate The Pink Friday 2 World Tour.
She also said that they are already discussing a new date as a priority, and that she will ‘create an added bonus for everyone that had a ticket for this show. Promise.’

Police appeal for witnesses following rape of teenage boy in Manchester’s Printworks

An urgent appeal for information and witnesses has been made following the rape of a teenage boy in Manchester city centre last week.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) is currently investigating the rape and serious assault of a teenager.
The male victim – who is aged under 18, and has therefore not been publicly named – arranged to meet a man via social media, and was attacked in the toilets of a venue on Dantzic Street inside Printworks at around 5pm last Friday (24 April 2026).
The victim has described the suspect as an Asian male aged between 18 and 20, of slim build, with a goatee beard, black hair parted in the centre and covering his forehead, and at the time of the incident, he was said to be wearing a black puffy coat, dark jeans, white-and-black trainers, and glasses.
Police arrested a 19-year-old man on suspicion of rape over the weekend, but he has since been bailed pending further enquiries.
With the investigation proceeding at pace, police are now asking for the public for their help and, in particular, appealing for potential witnesses who was in the area at the time.
“We have committed a large number of officers from across the force to the investigation and are carrying out extensive forensic and CCTV enquiries,” explained Detective Chief Inspector Chris Woodburn, from GMP’s City of Manchester CID.
“We are appealing for anyone who was in the Printworks area at the time of the incident to come forward. This would have been a busy time of day when there would have been a lot of people around.
“We also believe there may have been a second man in or around the toilets in a licensed premises off Dantzic Street at the time of the incident, and we want to speak to him as a witness as we believe he may have vital information that could assist with our investigation.”

‘Stunning’ Old Rectory pub in Stockport suffers permanent closure

One of Stockport town centre’s most beautiful pub venues, The Old Rectory, has officially closed down permanently following notices about its “final stages”.
Built circa 1740, the historic space itself has been there since before the Regency period.
Stockport‘s Old Rectory pub on Churchgate has been a number of different things over the decades, and has changed hands multiple times in more recent years, but now the Greene King site has shut down, what seems like, for good.
In fact, if you look online, it is already listed as ‘permanently closed’ on Google, as does a temporary sign now stuck to the gates of their entrance, with the most recent service last week being their final one.
With the news having since been shared on the Stockport Tourism notice board on Facebook, a post from the ‘Old Rec’ team reads: “We are sad to announce that The Old Rectory will be closing its doors at the end of this month. Thank you to everyone who has visited and supported the venue over the years.”
An update has also now been shared on the official CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) website.
Issuing a statement directly to The Manc, a spokesperson for Greene King said: “Following a period of team member consultation, we can confirm that the Old Rectory has now closed.
“We are grateful to everyone who has supported the Old Rectory over the years, and we look forward to welcoming them into our other pubs in the local area soon.”
They also go on to assure that they have worked with the team members who have sadly been put out of work to try and find new positions at other locations, with the operators urging Stopfordians to try other nearby pubs such as Gardeners Arms in Offerton and the recently refurbished Carousel in Reddish.
Described by CAMRA as a “multi-roomed pub-restaurant that still maintains a country house feel with plenty of dark wood and plush décor”, not to mention praising the all-day food service and “top notch” beer selection, its heyday may have been long ago, but it’ll still be missed by regulars and natives.
It’s also worth noting that the former Hungry Horse public house also long-served as an accommodation spot, too, with Premier Inn’s ‘Stockport Central Hotel’ attached to the back of the building.
There are no updates on this front at present, and they could easily repurpose what natives have hailed as a “stunning” Georgian structure – not to mention the expansive garden grounds – but the company is also currently cutting more than 3,800 jobs as part of a wider savings strategy.
