Glamorous Alderley Edge restaurant Piccolino has announced its closure.

The Italian restaurant in the affluent Cheshire village, just on the outskirts of Greater Manchester, will cease trading on January 4.

But a big name is tipped to take over the site, with Gino D’Acampo announcing a new site, in the same village, on the same date.

The celebrity chef and This Morning star is tipped to be taking over Piccolino with his restaurant concept Luciano by Gino D’Acampo.

His Luciano brand first opened on The Strand in London this summer, and now an Instagram account for a new Alderley Edge branch has appeared, teasing a January 4 opening date.

Both Piccolino and Gino D’Acampo restaurants are owned by the Individual Restaurants Group.

The group recently announced the closure of its glamorous Manchester city centre flagship Restaurant Bar and Grill, as well as its Alderley Bar and Grill site.
