Police address incident in Manchester Arndale following reports of young male armed with knife

There was a large police presence yesterday.

Greater Manchester Police are appealing for information following a huge incident at Manchester Arndale yesterday.

Officers were called to reports of a large group of males, believed to be aged between 12 and 16 years old, behaving in a violent manner.

Reports also suggested one young male was armed with a knife – no injuries were reported.

A large police presence was in place around the busy shopping centre from around 5pm on Tuesday 25 October.

Five males were arrested at the scene for violent disorder.

They’ve since been released on police bail with conditions, pending further enquiries.

It’s understood that the group consisted of around 12 young teenage males, though remaining suspects left the scene before officers could apprehend them.

GMP said today: “If you witnessed this incident, were in the area around 5pm or have any information regarding this incident – including mobile phone footage or CCTV footage – please contact GMP on 101 quoting Log 2396 of 25/10/2022.

“Alternatively, you can report information anonymously via the independent charity – Crimestoppers – on 0800 555 111.”
