Police appeal for witnesses following morning machete fight in Bolton

Officers were called to reports of men wielding machetes on Blackburn Road.

Police are appealing for information after a morning machete fight broke out in Bolton on Thursday.

Officers rushed to Blackburn Road at around 8.20am after receiving reports of an altercation taking place between several men armed with broad blades.

The group had already fled the scene by the time officers arrived.

Two of the culprits were seen taking off in a blue car.

Police have called the incident ‘shocking’, emphasising that the force was taking it ‘very seriously’.

According to current lines of enquiry, officers believe the fight was an isolated incident.

Inspector John Walsh of Greater Manchester Police’s Bolton district said: “We are taking this incident very seriously, and following all lines of enquiry to identify those involved.

“This was a busy time of day and we are hopeful that there are a number of people who may have witnessed this incident or have information that could help police in completing our enquiries. 

“Anyone who has witnessed anything suspicious in these areas, we would urge them to get in touch with us as soon as possible.”
