A police investigation has been launched after a 40-year-old woman and an eight-year-old girl have been found dead in Salford.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed that officers were called out to a property on South Radford Street in Salford, shortly after 10:30am yesterday (Monday 23 September), following reports of a concern for welfare, and they attended along with assistance from North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) and Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS).
When emergency services arrived at the property, a 40-year-old woman and an eight-year-old girl were both sadly found dead.
All known next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers, GMP has confirmed.
A cordon is in place, and there is a scene contained on South Radford Street.
GMP has assured the Greater Manchester community that it is “not actively looking for anyone else in relation to this investigation” at this time.
Speaking as the police investigation into the incident has now been opened and is currently ongoing, Detective Superintendent Simon Moyles, of GMP’s Salford district, said: “A woman and young girl were both tragically found dead and we are working hard as a team to establish what happened here. Whilst we are not actively looking for anyone else in relation to this investigation, I understand the news of their deaths and the large police and emergency services presence at the address will most likely cause some concern to residents and those further afield in Greater Manchester.
“I want to reassure them that we believe this to be an isolated incident with no wider threat in the community.
