Police send bomb squad into Chorlton following late night incident

The latest police statement has confirmed there were reports of a robbery during the early hours of 13 August, but it is currently unclear why specialist officers are on the scene.

A bomb squad has been drafted in to deal with an incident in Chorlton this morning.

Barlow Moor Road has been partly cordoned off, with emergency services vehicles first arriving in the suburban area early this morning.

Police are currently diverting pedestrians and traffic.

The latest police statement has confirmed there were reports of a robbery during the early hours of 13 August, but it is currently unclear why specialist officers are on the scene.

“Shortly after 3.10am this morning, police were called to reports of a robbery at the Coop on Barlow Moor Road, Manchester,” said police.

“Officers attended and established that a number of men had forced entry to the premises before stealing cash from the cash machine and subsequently fleeing towards Hardy Lane in a car.

“No arrests have currently been made and enquiries are ongoing.”
