Sky News presenter accidentally calls former health secretary ‘Jeremy C**t’ live on air

A Sky News presenter has mis-pronounced Jeremy Hunt’s name live on air – replacing his surname with a swear word.

Sophy Ridge slipped up on a broadcast last night while discussing the vote of no confidence.

She said, after reading a section of a scathing letter from Jesse Norman: “Two figures who are significant, Jeremy C**t because he is a potential leadership candidate.”

It’s not the first time the former health secretary Jeremy Hunt has had his surname switched for a rhyming swear.

There are entire compilations of similar slip-ups from broadcasters over the years, including Victoria Derbyshire.

Ridge continued on with her segment without acknowledging the expletive, much to the delight of viewers.

A clip shared by TV critic Scott Bryan has now been viewed by more than a quarter of a million people.

Many labelled it a ‘Freudian slip‘, while others questioned exactly how accidental the c-bomb mistake was.

One person said: “I’m sorry, but that ‘C-Bomb’ was dropped with massive amounts of intent. She’s won a bet on that.”

Someone else said it was the ‘Best bit of reporting all day’.

BBC Radio 1Xtra DJ Nick Bright tweeted: “Unbelievable scenes! She’s just said THE worst swear live on telly and didn’t even clock it.”

Another said: “A Sky News reporter just said Jeremy C**t instead of Jeremy Hunt. Would have been funnier if she’d accidentally called Boris Johnson a f***ing d*ckhead tw*t though.”

Sky News has not yet acknowledged the incident.

Yard Act announce handful of new headline shows ahead of 6Music gig in Manchester

Yard Act are back as they announce first round of UK headline dates since 2024, including a show right here in Manchester – but not before their BBC 6Music Festival gig later this week.

We are so, SO back.

It’s been a few years, but Yard Act have just announced a limited run of domestic shows for later in the year including their homecoming gig at the O2 Academy in Leeds on Friday, 6 November.

But after playing over in Yorkshire, the lads will be performing shows at the O2 Victoria Warehouse on the following Friday (13 Nov).

Yard Act completed the touring for their critically acclaimed second album, Where’s My Utopia?, with a victory lap back home at the 5000 capacity Millennium Square in Leeds in August ’24.

It was a record that brought a stark change of pace to the acerbic, post-punk of their debut, embracing something altogether more playful and bringing a different energy.

It shifted the dynamic on stage too, with the addition of dancing backing singers and additional musicians and openly challenged listeners to reconsider who they thought Yard Act were. 
 
Since then, the band have been keeping busy writing and recording their third studio LP, as well as heading out across the UK and Europe with The Hives – oh, and that intimate one-off show at Blackpool Tower last May.
 
Following a lengthy stint in the studio, the band now look to this coming autumn for three big UK dates and we cannot wait. We spoke to them a little while back and know how much big stuff they’ve got further pipeline; you can see the interview HERE.

Booking just three headline slots, the handful of tour dates are as follows:

  • 06 Nov – Leeds
  • 13 Nov – Manchester
  • 26 Nov – London

Jadon Sancho looks set to leave Manchester United for good – and he could be heading back ‘home’

Manchester United loanee Jadon Sancho looks all set to leave the club permanently this summer, and as per the latest reports, his next destination could be back at one of his previous ones: Borussia Dortmund.

Having become somewhat of a forgotten man after being loaned out to three different places since being effectively exiled from the first team under Erik ten Hag’s tenure, Jadon Sancho’s career hasn’t exactly progressed as many thought it would.

Enjoying loan spells not only back at Dortmund for the latter half of the 2023/24 season and even playing in a Champions League final, before then being loaned to Chelsea – winning the UEFA Conference League trophy – and then spending this campaign with Aston Villa, he’s been all over, even at 25.

Given his Southern roots prior to eventually coming through Man City’s youth academy, it was thought that he might stay down in London at one point; however, it now seems increasingly possible that he could return to Germany, where his breakthrough began.

According to The Athletic, with Villa writer Jacob Tanswell breaking the news earlier this month, there is genuine interest from Dortmund in re-signing Sancho if all parties agree.

While Man United do technically have the option to extend his stay, and the England international hasn’t experienced life under Michael Carrick, the feeling is that it is unlikely this will be the outcome.

It seems especially improbable given that it still remains to be seen who the permanent manager at the Theatre of Dream will be, as there is no guarantee he would form part of their plans moving forward.

Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has since corroborated the already ‘tier one’ outlet, clarifying that the decision for Sancho to leave United was made “months ago” and adding that the Bundesliga side is “keen” if all the personal terms can be ironed out.

Despite not having played for the red half of Manchester since 16 August 2023, there are some among the fan base who would like to see a universe where he gets a second chance at Old Trafford – then again, there are also plenty in the Midlands who would like to see him stay in Birmingham, too.

Steadily regaining some form, he also grabbed a key assist in the Villains’ recent 2-0 win over West Ham.

As always with marquee signings, even if things haven’t quite worked out, part of the obstacle will obviously be finding a suitor willing to pay his wages and/or the talent’s willingness to maybe take a pay cut, with Sancho said to be on one of the highest salaries not just at MUFC but in the English top flight.

Either way, he is currently due to leave as a free agent this coming summer transfer window, and the chances are he won’t staying on their books much longer.

Meanwhile, in transfer news in and around Greater Manchester, one fellow Premier League star has not only been heavily linked with a move to swap one United for another, but apparently he’s been ‘personally recommended’ as a potential successor by one current player.
