The Morris – The Northern Quarter’s half-pub, half-bar from one of the UK’s best cocktail bars
The Morris opens this week.

There’s a new spot to drink in the Northern Quarter – but actually behind these doors you’ll find TWO new bars to check out.
Downstairs it’s a proper local pub, while upstairs is a 80s-inspired cocktail bar.
This is The Morris, and it comes from the award-winning team behind Blinker – one of the UK’s top 50 cocktail bars.
Right in the heart of Thomas Street, this place has a pub downstairs with beers on the taps from local breweries like Manchester Union, Cloudwater and Track, as well as the ever-present Guinness.
Upstairs is a funky little cocktail bar with bold and playful cocktails inspired by retro treats, like a Manchester tart, a Drumstick, a Cheeky Vimto and a Black forest cocktail.
As for the food, expect unfussy pub snacks like Pepperamis and bags of Skips.
This is the second venue for Dan Berger, who has already achieved huge success with Blinker across in Spring Gardens.
Soon to come will be a third string to the bow of The Morris, with a stripped-back event space opening on the top floor later this year.
They’re promising to create a ‘come-as-you-are’ welcoming atmosphere, while still serving up some refined drinks alongside top local beers.
Rounding out the venue is a stripped-back top floor event space which will open later this year.
The Morris really is bringing something new to the NQ – it opens on Wednesday 28 May, check it out.
