A bar in Stockport has closed after a number of staff tested positive for COVID-19.
Thom’s Bar & Kitchen, on Heaton Moor Rd, confirmed it would shut its doors on Monday (27 July) after learning there was one confirmed case among staff.
The restaurant later announced that two additional employees had also tested positive.
Representatives said: “We have contacted PHE [Public Health England] and are still waiting to hear back…
“As this must be a very busy time for PHE, anyone who has visited us in the last week may want to [err] on the side of caution and book/order a test whilst waiting for PHE to contact them.
“Thank you again for everyone’s support in this time and we will be aiming to update everyone as soon as we have more information available.”
Thom’s Bar & Kitchen explained to the MEN that they had followed social distancing guidelines, with representatives saying they are “currently unsure” of how the outbreak occurred.
Anyone who tests positive for COVID-19 is told to self-isolate. The NHS Test and Trace service will then notify close contacts – who need to quarantine for 14 days.
There have been more than 300,000 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UK so far, with over 45,000 deaths.
