A woman has been arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault and child cruelty after a suspected incident at a nursery in Oldham.
Emergency services were called to Kids Around The Clock on Main Road in Chadderton at around 3.45pm on 21 September.
A seven-month-old girl was found to be critically ill and was rushed to hospital, where she remains in a serious but stable condition.
The woman, who is in her 30s, was interviewed and has been released on bail with strict conditions.
Greater Manchester Police have launched a joint investigation with Oldham Council and Ofsted.
The child’s parents are being kept updated and are being supported by GMP’s investigation team at this distressing time.

Extensive enquiries continue to be conducted to establish the circumstances of how the child’s condition deteriorated.
Officers believe it is an isolated incident and detectives from Oldham Child Protection Unit are working with partners as the investigation continues.
