Greater Manchester Police (GMP) is appealing for information after a woman has been left “seriously injured” from being hit by her own car during a robbery.
GMP said that at around 9pm on Sunday 27 February, it received a report of a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian on Church Street in the Horwich area of Bolton, and officers attended the scene to find that a woman in her 60s had discovered and subsequently disturbed an unknown male inside her home.
After going outside to shout for help, the victim was struck and knocked over by her own car – a black Volkswagen T-Roc, with the registration plate MA18 WZT – as it was being stolen, and sustained significant injuries.
The woman’s handbag was also stolen during the robbery.
Although the car has since been recovered by police, the victim was taken to hospital, and remains there with head, abdominal, and leg injuries.
Speaking on the incident in an appeal for information this week, Inspector Deborah Hurst, of GMP’s Bolton district, said: “This was a horrific experience for the victim [and] we wish her well, and hope she makes a full recovery.
“Enquiries are ongoing but we are appealing for anyone with information to contact us.”
“We are particularly interested in hearing from anyone with dash cam footage which shows the VW T-Roc since it was stolen on Sunday evening,” she added.
