There’s bad news and good news for wannabe brides this year...

The bad? It’s a leap year. So, it’s your turn to propose (according to tradition). The good? A ring will only cost you a quid.

Poundland is selling emergency “standby” rings for any girl planning to pop the question on 29 February.

The “Ask Him Ring”, which comes in a blue velvet box, is intended to be a polite little nudge that encourages the fiancé to respond with a (bigger and flashier) ring of his own.

A spokesperson for Poundland stated: “(This is) the perfect way for women to take control of their destiny and for men to show off their love status and enjoy the engagement limelight for a change!

“The Poundland proposal is definitely the way to do it in 2020; and at only £1 why wait another four years to get down on one knee!”

Think he'll like it?

The Ask Him Rings are available in store right now…
