The Book of Mormon has had to cancel some of its Manchester performances at the eleventh hour due to ‘Covid-enforced absences’.
The smash-hit comedy musical, written by the creators of South Park, returned to the Palace Theatre last week.
But just minutes before the doors to the theatre were due to open for tonight’s show, a statement was issued confirming that the performance has been cancelled.
Tomorrow night’s performance has also been pulled, but it’s hoped that The Book of Mormon’s Manchester run can resume from Thursday December 16.
The Tony-award winning musical follows two missionaries sent from their home in Salt Lake City to preach the Mormon religion to a remote Ugandan village.
It’s one of the most wickedly funny stage productions of all time and sold out every date of its residency at the Prince of Wales theatre in London.
The statement from the Palace Theatre says: “Due to Covid-enforced absences within the cast and crew at the Palace Theatre, unfortunately performances of The Book of Mormon scheduled to take place tonight, Tuesday 14 December, and tomorrow, Wednesday 15 December, can no longer go ahead as scheduled.

“Performances are currently planned to recommence on Thursday 16 December and we will provide further information as soon as possible.
“Guests affected by this change will be contacted by email in the coming days by their point of purchase, with information on how to exchange tickets into a new performance date, request a credit voucher, or to receive a refund.
“On behalf of everyone at the Palace Theatre and The Book of Mormon we apologise for the disappointment and for any inconvenience this may cause.”
