Aldi has announced plans to create more than 2,000 jobs across the UK between now and the busy Christmas period.

The supermarket chain – which currently has over 920 stores and employs around 38,000 people right across the UK – is pushing ahead with its ambitious plans to open more than one new store a week before 2021 is out, with towns and cities such as Canterbury, Swansea and London soon set to welcome new branches.

New stores are also tipped to open in Greater Manchester and the North West region.

To meet the demand of all these new stores opening nationwide, Aldi is therefore launching a recruitment drive for a wide variety of roles.

Recruitment will largely be for Store Assistants – who can earn up to £10.57 nationally, and £11.32 inside the M25, with the supermarket also paying for breaks – as well as other store-based roles including managerial positions, Stock Assistants, Caretakers, Cleaners, and Store Apprentices.

At present, a quick search on the Aldi Recruitment website shows that there’s just over 100 vacancies at stores across Greater Manchester.

If you’re happy to relocate or travel a little further afield though, then the supermarket is currently recruiting for 900 jobs across its 13 Regional Distribution Centres around the UK, and there’s a further 175 vacancies at its Head Office in Atherstone, Warwickshire.

Aldi is also on the lookout for over 80 graduates to join its next graduate scheme intake, which is starting from September onwards.

“I am unbelievably proud of our amazing Aldi colleagues, and what they have achieved together over the last year,” said Giles Hurley, Chief Executive Officer of Aldi UK.

“As we continue to invest in new stores, bringing unbeatable Aldi prices to millions of customers, we’re looking for thousands more colleagues to join our incredible teams across the country [and] I look forward to welcoming each and every one of them in the future.”
