Chester Zoo is hosting its first-ever recruitment open day next week, and there’s over 100 jobs up for grabs.
Ahead of what is always one of the busiest times in the calendar, with more visitors set to descend on the park during the summer than any other time year, the UK’s leading charity zoo is hoping to recruit a number of seasonal staff onto the team, and is offering “flexible hours” for people who want to work between eight and 40 hours a week.
Zoo bosses have said that the roles up for grabs are in the food and drink, retail, operations, and admissions teams.
The recruitment open day for anyone interested is happening next Wednesday 27 April.
Described as being a “relaxed and informal session”, the recruitment open day will take place in Bembe Coffee Shop at the zoo’s main entrance – which can be found next to the Asian elephant and eastern black rhino habitats – between 2pm – 8pm.
Speaking ahead of the day, Gemma Bamford – Admissions and Membership manager at Chester Zoo – said: “If you’re interested in a career at the zoo, or are looking to enjoy a flexible role around your current lifestyle, then pop along to our open day for a cuppa and a chat with our teams and we’ll take you through all of the exciting positions we have to offer.
“There’re not many places in the world where can you explore a 128 acre zoo and be surrounded by 20,000 incredible animals every day.”

Chester Zoo also added that anyone who is successful in getting a role will also get a free staff pass, and then once they’ve finished their seasonal contract, they will also be able to get a raft of free tickets for their families and friends throughout the year.
