One of the UK’s largest pub chains is offering up pints for just 6p in celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee today.

But you’ll need to know the secret code to grab one.

Greene King – a chain with over 3,100 pubs across the UK – will be offering the 6p pints at 408 of its sites for one-day-only today, and it’s all because that was the average cost of a pint during the Queen’s ascension to the throne 70 years ago.

Beer-lovers can grab incredibly cheap pint of Greene King IPA at chosen Green King Local Pubs and Flaming Grills to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s royal coronation, but they will only be able to claim the offer by using a special password.

Dozens of pubs right across each Greater Manchester are taking part in the one-day-only offer.

So, how exactly do you claim a 6p pint then? Well, all you’ll need to do is head on up to the bar at any participating Greene King sites and say the password “1952”.

Speaking on the limited-time offer, Andrew Gallagher – Marketing Director at Greene King Local Pubs – said: “The Platinum Jubilee is a fantastic way for the UK to come together and celebrate our Queen and country, so we wanted to take our customers back to where it all began – 1952, a time when Vera Lynn ruled the charts, and pints were only 6p.

“Some of our regulars may even remember watching the coronation back in 1952, although they may have been too young to enjoy a pint then.

“We can’t wait to see our customers enjoy this royally good deal on Monday 30 May, and look forwarding to celebrating the Platinum Jubilee in all our pubs across the bank holiday weekend.”

You can find a participating pub on the Greene King website here.
