Nintendo has announced that an exciting new game Mario Kart game exclusive to the Nintendo Switch is coming soon and it allows players to race around their own homes.
Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit is the latest game to utilise Augmented Reality (AR).
The game – which was surprisingly announced by Nintendo today – will use the ground-breaking and innovative technology to create race cars and turn players’ living rooms, bedrooms and more into the circuits you race round.
Once the game is set up, the cars and the virtual racecourse will appear on the console’s screen, just like you’re used to in the classic Mario Kart game, which was first released back in 1992.
Nintendo’s official description for Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit reads: “The physical kart responds to boosts in-game and in the real world, stops when hit with an item and can be affected in different ways depending on the race.
“Players place gates to create a custom course layout in their home, where the only limit is their imagination. Race against Koopalings in Grand Prix, unlock a variety of course customisations and costumes for Mario or Luigi, and play with up to four players in local multiplayer mode.”
The game was developed in partnership with a new New York-based studio called Velan Studios.
Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit will launch on the Nintendo Switch on 16th October 2020.
The game will be available in two varieties – Mario and Luigi – and you can get your hands on it for £99.
